Safe mode is a PHP system feature on all of the 34SP.com shared hosting servers. Safe mode encompasses an array of different settings; most importantly it prevents a number of user actions that could lead to instability and insecurity on the server.

Whilst we cannot disable all of the safe mode settings on your account - we can disable certain settings that may help your scripts to run.

If you do encounter an issue you believe to be to do with safe mode, please contact us on our support email address letting us know the domain name and the full error message you are getting, so we can look into it for you.

The most common safe mode problem encountered is a file ownership issue. With this issue, php typically gives an error saying that your script is not able to access a file which is owned by, and then lists a number.

There are a number of PHP functions that have slightly changed behaviour under safe_mode, for a full list, and a description of the changed behaviour please see this link http://php.net/manual/en/features.safe-mode.functions.php
